These statements of faith do not exhaust the extent of our beliefs.
The Bible itself, as the inspired and infallible Word of God that speaks with final authority concerning truth, morality, and the proper conduct of mankind, is the sole and final source of all that we believe.
For purposes of The County Line Christian Church’s faith, doctrine, practice, policy, and discipline, the presiding Elders are corporately, the final interpretive authority on the Bible’s meaning and application.
Brief Statement of Beliefs
We believe in one God, creator of all things, infinitely perfect and eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit (Genesis 1:1-2, 26, Colossians 1:15-18, John 14:26).
We believe Jesus Christ is true God and true man. Jesus lived a sinless life, died on the cross as a sacrifice for our sins, arose bodily from the grave and ascended to heaven where He is our advocate (Colossian 2:9-10, Philippians 1:5-11, 1 Corinthians 15:20-22, Acts 10:37-43).
We believe the ministry of the Holy Spirit is to convict people of sin, regenerate the believing sinner, indwell, instruct, and empower the believer for Godly living and service (John 16:5-13, 1 Corinthians 6:9-11).
We believe the Bible is the inspired word of God, without error in the original writings, and is the final authority for all Christians (2 Timothy 3:16-17).
We believe in God’s saving grace that calls all people to faith, repentance, confession, baptism (immersion), and a new life and ministry through the Holy Spirit (Eph. 2:8, Acts 2:38, Colossians 2:12, 1 Timothy 6:12). This new life is described as being filled with the fruit of the Holy Spirit (Galatians 5:22-26). This is in contrast to a life outside of Christ (Galatians 5:16-21, 1 Corinthians 6:9-11, 1 Timothy 1:8-11).
We believe New Testament worship consists of the Apostles’ teaching, fellowship, breaking of bread, and prayer. We partake of communion each Lord’s Day (Sunday) by example of the first century church (Acts 2:42; 20:7).
We believe in the bodily resurrection of all humanity: the believer in Christ into everlasting joy, and the unbeliever into everlasting punishment (John 5:24-29).
Statement on the Sanctity of Human Life
We believe that all human life is sacred and created by God in His image. Human life is of inestimable worth in all its dimensions, including pre-born babies, the aged, the physically or mentally challenged, and every other stage or condition from conception through natural death. We are therefore called to defend, protect, and value all human life (Psalms 139:13-16).
Statement on Marriage, Gender, and Sexuality
We believe that God wonderfully and immutably creates each person as male or female. These two distinct, complementary genders together reflect the image and nature of God (Gen. 1:26-28). Rejection of one's biological gender is a rejection of the image of God within that person.
We believe that the term "marriage" has only one meaning: the uniting of one man and one woman in a single, exclusive union, as delineated in Scripture (Gen. 2:18-25, Matt. 19:4-6). We believe that God intends sexual intimacy to occur only between a man and a woman who are married to each other (1 Cor. 6:18; 7:2-5; Heb. 13:4). We believe that God has commanded that no intimate sexual activity be engaged in outside of a marriage between a man and a woman.
We believe that any form of sexual immorality (including adultery, fornication, homosexual and lesbian behavior, transgender, bisexual conduct, bestiality, incest, and use of pornography) is sinful and offensive to God (Matt. 15:18-20; 1 Cor.6:9-10; Romans 1:20-32).
We believe that in order to preserve the function and integrity of The County Line Christian Church as the local Body of Christ, and to provide a biblical role model to the members of The County Line Christian Church and the community, it is imperative that all persons employed by The County Line Christian Church in any capacity, or who serve as volunteers, agree to and abide by this Statement on Marriage, Gender, and Sexuality (Matt. 5:16; Phil. 2:14-16; 1Thess.5:22).
We believe that God offers redemption and restoration to all who confess and forsake their sin, seeking His mercy and forgiveness through Jesus Christ (Acts 3:19-21; Rom. 10:9-10; 1 Cor. 6:9-11).
We believe that every person must be afforded compassion, love, kindness, respect, and dignity (Mark 12:28-31; Luke 6:31). Hateful and harassing behavior or attitudes directed toward any individual from members are not in accordance with Scripture or the doctrines of The County Line Christian Church and will be respectfully admonished by the Elders.
